Levels

Levels on HxH RP determine your character's overall aptitude in their nen prowess. It does not affect their physical abilities, though it is not rare to see a high-level character that is also strong physically. Levels are useful for two aspects: slots and aura. Your slots and aura tie directly into your nen techniques, so it is a good idea for those who would like to master nen to level up consistently, or else they may end up with a lack of techniques or even run out of aura when they need it most. Below are the aura gains and slots for each level up you do. Please note that level 1 is the default rank, meaning anything on that level is what you start with upon approval.

  • Level 1: +100 Aura
  • Level 2: +75 Aura
  • Level 3: +100 Aura
  • Level 4: +125 Aura
  • Level 5: +150 Aura

  • Level 1: 6 Slots Total
  • Level 2: 12 Slots Total
  • Level 3: 18 Slots Total
  • Level 4: 24 Slots Total
  • Level 5: 30 Slots Total

As you can see, the further you level up, the more you can consistently use your nen. Next, you're probably wondering on how levels are gained. Well, levels are gained through EXP on your profile. EXP can be gained through missions, which give EXP (and money!) to you for completing an objective with a wordcount. Below are the values of EXP needed for each level to be obtained. While the numbers may seem intially high, as you continue on your journey, the EXP will surely stack up without you even noticing. In addition, EXP can be won through various events and minigames such as fishing as well.

  • Level 1: 0 EXP
  • Level 2: 200 EXP
  • Level 3: 800 EXP
  • Level 4: 2000 EXP
  • Level 5: 5000 EXP

Missions

Section 1: Personal Missions

Personal Missions are the best source of both money and EXP, as well as a small amount of NP (Nen Points). All 3 are vital to advancing your character on the forum, so it is important to do personal missions at least every once in a while. Personal missions are missions made by you, done by you, and are meant to have both an objective and a wordcount.

The first thing that is needed to be done is to understand the ranks of personal missions. These ranks will depend on your character's level. You can only do missions that are of your level or lower. So a level 2 character can do both Level 1 and Level 2 personal missions. Each mission gets progressively harder to complete with each level, but offers a greater ratio of rewards. Below are the values for personal missions.

Level 1: 500 Words, 1000 Money, 20 EXP, 1 NP
Level 2: 1000 Words, 3000 Money, 50 EXP, 2 NP
Level 3: 1500 Words, 6000 Money, 100 EXP, 3 NP
Level 4: 2000 Words, 10,000 Money, 175 EXP, 5 NP
Level 5: 3000 Words, 25,000 Money, 300 EXP, 8 NP

So, now that you see the requirements and rewards, the next question is: how do you do a personal mission? Well, you simply head to the mission forum and create one. You will find a template that will ask you to fill out the details of the mission, most notably a rank, name and description of the task you are doing. Once you have submitted your personal mission, a moderator will look over it and approve you to go on it. From there, you will post a thread in character in the forum that mission takes place in, fulfill the objective and wordcount, and then link back to the original post. A mod will reward you, and the mission will be locked and moved. It is important to keep in mind that you can only do 2 personal missions at a time.

Section 2: Event Missions

Event missions are staff-made missions that usually have a different objective and a different way of completing it. Some of these events can take a simple day to complete, and others may span over a month. They rely on your roleplaying rather than wordcounts, and usually give much higher rewards that are varied in size. Any event missions will have an [Event] tag posted in which people can then sign up for by posting in the thread.

Player Stats

Everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses and hunters are no different. Physical attributes are just as important to hunters as nen abilities are - though they aren’t the be all end all. Every player has three main statistics which apply to their character: Speed, Strength, and Durability.

Speed: Speed dictates the maximum move speed of your character.

Speed Stat Chart :

Strength: Your ability to deal physical damage, and the amount of weight you can carry. Every item has weight to it, and the amount you can carry depends on how strong you are. Certain nen abilities and items can circumvent these restrictions.

Strength Stat Chart :

Durability: Your ability to resist physical damage, and the amount of raw damage you can take. Physical resistance will reduce the damage rank of incoming physical attacks. The amount of damage you can take is divided up based on where you are hit: There is a maximum amount of damage you can take to the head before either being knocked out or dying, there is a certain amount of damage you can take to the body before being knocked out or dying, and there is a certain amount of damage you can take to limbs before they are rendered unusable for the battle or permanently lost.

Durability Stat Chart :

Increasing Stats

Stats are increased with stat points. Stat points are gained by either leveling up or training. Every stat can have points invested in it in order to increase, with costs scaling up with the power of the stats. You get one stat point for every 1000 words of training you do, though this count can be reduced through various means - check out the shop to see what you can find. Training must be done in a topic which is designated for training, while doing actions related to training. This can be something as simple as basic exercises and can include sparring with fellow players. A topic not originally meant for training can transition into one at any time, and there is no limit to the amount of topics dedicated to training. Simply indicate in a topic when the training action begins, and keep track of the amount of words spent training.

Starting Out

When creating a character, you by default will have a rank of F in each of your stats. During the process of creating a character, you automatically gain a stat point. However, you can choose not to use it and gain two nen points and 10 aura instead. In addition to this, you may choose to have any stat start at G rank, which will net you an additional two nen points and 10 aura for each stat reduced to G.

In addition to this initial lowering, a user may opt to permanently reduce a stat to G - meaning they cannot use stat points to increase the stat higher. This will give them an additional 4 nen points and 25 aura upon the creation of their character, and any training they do that would normally apply to that stat would instead give them proportionate nen point and aura gains.

Stat Point Costs

Below are the amount of stat points required to achieve that level of stat. Note that the point cost for F applies for training up a stat lowered to G permanently, you do not need to spend stat points to maintain F rank stats.

F - 3 Stat Points
E - 1 Stat Point
D - 2 Stat Points
C - 4 Stat Points
B - 8 Stat Points
A - 12 Stat Points

If a stat is locked at G, you may invest stat points earned in it into that stat in order to gain a boost to your aura and nen points. For each stat locked at G you can invest 40 stat points. Each stat point will give you 10 aura and 2 nen points.

Character Status

When creating a character, an important aspect of the character to consider is their background. Some characters might start of already being full fledged hunters, others may not even know nen! This distinction is important, and depending on which start applies to your character, you will have different advantages at your disposal right from the beginning. It is important to note that starting off with less knowledge will give you the opportunity to learn it later on down the road, and potentially gaining more of a benefit from it. Also, keep in mind if you start as a hunter, you will not be able to take the exam again, thus forfeiting the reward for completing it. Keep in mind that your character’s status may change by learning nen and by becoming a hunter.

The Different Statuses:

Civilian: A person who has heard of the hunter lifestyle. While not yet aware of nen, the average person has had the ability to focus on being in perfect shape and equipping themselves for the tough road ahead of them.
~ Cannot use nen points until having learned nen
~ +3 stat points at start

Nen User: A nen user who has been able to access nen through birth or by training, and thus has been able to develop their nen powers for quite some time. While not a hunter yet, they may choose to pursue this path later on.
~Can use nen

Rookie Hunter: Someone who has just passed the hunter exam! Though they do not know nen yet, they will quickly find some sort of nen user to teach them the basics - or forcibly initiate them.
~ Cannot use nen points until having learned nen
~ Access to Hunter Resources

Pro Hunter: Someone who has been a hunter for a decent amount of time - they have their license, they know nen, and are generally in pursuit of their goals already. While they might already be fairly accomplished, there is not as much easy opportunity for quick development for these hunters.
~Can use nen
~Access to Hunter Resources
